Amy O'Connor, OTR- Amy heads our Occupational Therapy Program and has spent six years providing services in the public school setting as well as in community childcare settings. Amy's vast knowledge base in the areas of neuro-developmental treatment techniques, aquatics, cognitive rehabilitation methods, sensory integration/self-regulation, autism, hand and upper extremity rehab, splinting, and assistive technology assessments provide a strong base for our programs. Amy Taebel, PT, PCS - Amy heads our physical therapy program and brings 12 years of experience in pediatric therapy. She is a certified Therasuit, Intensive Pediatric Therapy Method, and Aquatics provider. Amy continues to educate herself on the latest and most effective treatments and has received an Autism Spectrum Certificate, is trained in partial weight bearing gait training, developmental assessments and comprehensive assistive technology assessments. Amy Shelton, COTA- Amy is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who brings 17 years of pediatric experience. She has provided services to children age preschool through high school in the public school system setting. She has experience working with a wide range of diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, autism, cognitive disability, learning and emotional disability. Her love of working with children has brought her to Communication Innovations. She has great admiration for the caring work everyone provides here.

Diane Musser, OTR- Diane comes to us with over 10 years of pediatric experience. She has a love for children and has worked in various pediatric settings ranging from private practice, schools, and Birth to Three. Her professional experience began in the public school setting after graduating from University of Illinois Chicago, Medical Center Campus. She worked full time for three years before starting her own family. Her current experience focuses on children from birth to 21 with a passion for working with individuals diagnosed with cerebral palsy, autism, cognitive delays, developmental delays, and Down's Syndrome. Jennifer Gilles- Bauer,B.S- Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Studies from Edgewood College. She has over 9 years of experience as a reading and academic support specialist for clients pre-kindergarten through high school, with learning challenges in a private clinic setting. Formal training includes expertise in a variety of training approaches such as phonic-based reading programs, multi-sensory programs, Reading Connections, Touch Math, Cloud Nine and overall academic strategies. Jen has facilitated programs to jump start learning, increase confidence, and build academic skills using methods that make learning fun! Her goal is to help kids by giving them the tools necessary to succeed in school and life and most importantly believe in themselves as learners. Jenny Vyas, M.S. CCC-SLP- Jenny received her Bachelors of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Illinois-Urbana, and her Masters of Science in Speech/Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jenny has worked with adults, adolescents, and young children with a range of communication, swallowing, and voice disorders. She has maintained speech pathology positions in rehabilitation centers/nursing homes, the Madison Metropolitan School District, and Communication Innovations. She has experience working with children who have expressive and/or receptive language disorders related to autism, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and specific learning disabilities, as well as speech disorders, including dysfluency and articulation errors. She has also worked with adults who have communication, voice, and swallowing issues related to a stroke, TBI, dementia, and progressive neurological diseases. Currently, she works with children and adults of all ages and abilities, and is interested in forming numerous social groups to help facilitate carryover of language and pragmatic skills learned during individual sessions at Communication Innovations. Her approach to intervention involves functionally relevant therapy objectives, maximizing multimodality communication, group treatment, and providing services in the most appropriate setting, whether it be in the clinic, in the community, or in the home. jenny@communicationinnovations.com
Jill Kiesau MT-BC, NMT, WMTR Jill is a board certified Music Therapist with 13 years of experience specializing in children with various developmental disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, and spina bifida. Her passion for Music Therapy has led Jill to share her knowledge and "tricks of the trade" through presentations at local, regional, and national music therapy conferences and PBS's annual Early Learning Education Institute. Jill has practiced co-therapy with Occupational, Physical, Recreational, and Speech therapists in public and private schools. Most recently, Jill has enjoyed working with children and families 1:1 to target goal areas. In October 2006, Jill completed course work through Colorado State University in Neurologic Music Therapy and is currently completing training to be a NMT fellow. Jill is passionate about helping individuals lead more independent lives through the enjoyment of music.
Julie Malliet- Nowak- Julie is an Early Childhood Educator with 32 years experience in the field of developmental disabilities from birth through adulthood. Julie joins the Communication Innovations team from the Waisman Early Childhood Program where she taught two part time preschool classes and a parent infant/toddler play group. Julie provides augmented education and facilitated play for birth to 5 year olds in individual and/or small group environments including in-home, clinic, and preschool settings. Children learn through play environment, pre-academics and sensory integration through music, art, and movement. Julie's inclusive "Let's Play!" parent infant/toddler group is designed for children of all abilities for parent networking, relationship building, and play. Julie is also available for in-home play environment consults, IEP and IFSP goal augmentation and advocacy. Julie is truly excited to be part of the CI team in providing services that meet the needs of children and families.

Laurie Pinkert, OTR- Laurie has been a pediatric Occupational Therapist for over 20 years. The past eight years she has worked with children in the Birth to Three program. Laurie has three grown children, one with the diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. In addition to being a great therapist, Laurie is also able to relate to families directly, being the parent of a child with special needs. Laurie, herself, also has a hearing impairment and received a Cochlear Implant four years ago. She enjoys cooking, crafts, camping, hiking, and gardening. She has also participated in mission trips to Belize and the Dominican Republic. She is very excited to be part of the CI team!
Lynn Enter, PT- Lynn received her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and Movement Science, and her Masters of Physical Therapy, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has experience working with children and adults with very diverse diagnoses, including cerebral palsy, autism, spina bifida, and other developmental disabilities. Her love of children has guided her toward pediatric physical therapy, and her passion and commitment for children and their families make her an excellent addition to this collaborative team! Sarah Stuntebeck, M.S. CCC-SLP- Sarah Stuntebeck received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She gained experience in the areas of articulation/speech disorders, cleft lip, palate, and craniofacial anomalies, fluency disorders, child language, aural habilitation, and early speech-language development in the Birth-to-Three program. Throughout graduate school, Sarah worked at the Waisman Center in a speech acoustics lab with Ray Kent, PhD where she collected and analyzed data related to adults with dysarthria. She completed her master’s thesis on the analysis of speech acoustics in individuals with ataxic dysarthria. After graduate school, Sarah earned her Certificate of Clinical Competence and worked at a private practice clinic in Los Angeles, California with Julia Hobbs where she worked with a wide range of pediatric speech, language, and fluency disorders. Sarah is currently employed as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Madison East High School, but has also worked at various elementary schools on the east side of Madison. She primarily helps students with language, learning, and fluency disorders. At East, Sarah is passionate about working with at-risk students by supporting their development of learning skills and self-advocacy in school, work, and daily life.Sarah is an enthusiastic Communication Innovations team-member and is again happy for the opportunity to be in a private practice setting where she can continue working with young children. She has been trained in the Intensive Model of Therapy and joins us in the summers to provide traditional Occupational Therapy as well as the Intensive Therapy Program. Amanda Houdek-Hoechst, M.S. CCC-SLP- Amanda is the director of Communication Innovations, Inc. Amanda has extensive experience with early-childhood, public school, and private speech therapy service models. Amanda's goal is to provide all of the therapy services a family could need under one roof! She oversees and is certified in a variety of specialty therapies including Auditory Integration Training, Interactive Metronome, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Autism based language development, and Social Groups.
